BREATHING FOR THE SINGERS
How to breathe properly for a singer is very important. One thing singers do is fill up their lungs with air vertically instead of horizontally. If you take a deep breath before singing a phrase of a song, did your shoulders move? That is the wrong way. Your stomach area should widen but shoulders to not go up.
Let’s locate your diaphragm, it is below the chest and above your belly, buried behind muscles. You should be directing your inhaled air into your balloon-like diaphragm, not your shoulders.
Attached is a video of Lexie Torres singing a song that required a lot of breath work.
Joke for the day:
What do you get when you drop a piano on an army base?
A flat major!!
