Singing and playing piano with impact!
Today we are going to talk about the word “Legato”. It is a type of articulation of how the music is to be played or sung.
In music performance (singing or playing on the piano) and notation (written music), legato indicates that the notes are to be played or sung smoothly and connected (joined together). It is a musical phrase, so a singer should take a breath after each phrase. For piano, legato is denoted by a curved line above or underneath multiple notes; the symbol is call a slur.
Why did the pianist keep banging his head against the keys? He was playing by ear!!
This video is a perfect example of singing with legato.
